Dr. Francisco José Somarriba López is a physician and university professor dedicated to integrating clinical practice, education, and technology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine and Surgery degree in 2022 from the Universidad Central de Nicaragua (UCN). Throughout his career, he has worked as a general practitioner in various hospitals, gaining solid clinical experience from his university internships onwards.In 2023, he began his academic career as a full-time lecturer and researcher at UCN, teaching fundamental subjects for medical training such as Anatomy, History of Medicine, Toxicology, and Patient Care Techniques. He is also an authorized Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor certified by the American Heart Association since 2023, with additional training in prehospital medicine and psychiatric emergencies.Since 2024, Dr. Somarriba has served as a methodological and scientific advisor for multiple thesis projects and research studies, while also acting as a jury member for academic graduations. He consistently updates his knowledge on cutting-edge scientific and technological advancements, keeping at the forefront of innovations applied to medicine and education. As he states on his professional profile: "I am constantly updating my knowledge on cutting-edge technological topics applied to medicine, including artificial intelligence and its integration into clinical and educational processes. My goal is to contribute to advancing medicine from a humanistic, technological, and ethical perspective, making learning a motivating and accessible process while demystifying complex topics for students, professionals, and patients".In 2025, he began pursuing a Master of Public Health at Universidad Europea del Atlántico and Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana, further strengthening his expertise in health sciences and public health policies.Dr. Somarriba's interests encompass neuroscience (neurology, neurophysiology, psychiatry), biomedical technology, medical research, and the philosophy of medicine. His teaching approach emphasizes innovation, incorporating medical simulators, virtual and augmented reality, and artificial intelligence to enrich the learning experience.In 2024, he launched his blog, Meditaciones Galénicas, where he shares reflections on the intersection of medicine, philosophy, and technology, aiming to inspire both professionals and students. As he describes: "I express my core values of humanity, medical-patient ethics, social responsibility, and commitment to organizational excellence".Beyond his professional pursuits, he enjoys activities that nourish both intellect and spirit, including music, reading, scientific and cultural content, and engaging in thoughtful conversations.
